Erling Haaland Breaks Premier League Goal Record
City Clinch Title with Victory Over West Ham
Haaland Scores 27th Goal in Just 25 Games
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has broken the Premier League record for goals scored in a single season. The Norwegian striker scored his 27th goal of the campaign in City's 3-1 win over West Ham United on Sunday, surpassing the previous record of 26 held by Sergio Aguero.
Haaland has reached the milestone in just 25 games, making him the fastest player to ever score 27 goals in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has been in sensational form for City since joining from Borussia Dortmund last summer, and his goals have been crucial in helping the team claim their fifth Premier League title in six seasons.
City's win over West Ham also saw them clinch the Premier League title for a fourth consecutive season. Pep Guardiola's side were in control throughout the match and took the lead through Haaland's goal in the 29th minute. Jack Grealish added a second for City just after the hour mark, before Manuel Lanzini pulled one back for West Ham.
However, any hopes of a West Ham comeback were extinguished when Haaland scored his second of the game in the 86th minute. The goal sealed City's victory and gave Haaland the Premier League goalscoring record. The Norwegian striker will now be looking to add to his tally in the remaining games of the season as City chase a quadruple of trophies.
