Early Life and Family

Andrew Graham Beshear, better known as Andy Beshear, was born on November 29, 1977, in Louisville, Kentucky. He grew up in a political family, as his parents, Steve and Jane Beshear, were former Governor and First Lady of Kentucky, respectively.

Political Career

Attorney General of Kentucky

Andy Beshear served as Kentucky's Attorney General from 2016 to 2019. During his tenure, he launched initiatives to address the opioid crisis, protect consumers, and fight against corruption.

Governor of Kentucky

In 2019, Beshear was elected as the 63rd Governor of Kentucky. He is a Democrat and became the first of his party to hold the office in over a decade. Beshear has focused on economic development, education reform, and healthcare access.

Election and Accomplishments

Beshear won a second term in 2023, defeating Republican challenger Daniel Cameron. His victory made him the first Democrat to win consecutive gubernatorial terms in Kentucky since 1971.
