Vaccine Compensation: Thousands Seek Payments for Disability
Oxford-AstraZeneca Victims Awarded Damages
Following reports of rare side effects from the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, a group of 95 individuals who experienced health issues or lost loved ones have received compensation payments.
Nearly 1000 Claim Severe Disability
The number of people seeking compensation has surged, with almost 1000 individuals now claiming to have been left severely disabled by the vaccine.
Global Compensation System Proposed
To address this issue, a global compensation commission based at the COVAX Facility has been proposed as a viable solution to facilitate vaccine procurement and compensate those affected.
Conditions Earning Compensation
Payments have been awarded for a range of conditions, including:
- Guillain-Barré syndrome
- Transverse myelitis
- Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST)
Vulnerability of the Uninsured
While compensation is available, some victims may lack paid sick leave or insurance coverage, leaving them particularly vulnerable in the rare event of serious vaccine side effects.
